Once you have established a client relationship, do not squander the opportunity for future business by being lazy: staying in touch pays off, and in today’s market, technology has made it easy to do so.

The power of an individual’s “circle of influence” was maximized to the available technological limits when email arrived on the scene, and was placed firmly on steroids with the advent of Facebook, Twitter and other Social Media. One of the great things about staying in touch with your clients is that the only limitation to achieving success is your own imagination. You can have a face-to-face meeting – the ultimate in “touching” your client – or you can call, email, fax or direct mail. You can Skype, WebEx, GoToMeeting or DimDim. You can Facebook for Business, YouTube, FriendFeed, as well as a myriad of emerging technologies, all geared toward keeping in touch.

Facebook for Business has emerged as a heavy lifter for staying in touch with your clients. Keep in mind that the dynamics of a Facebook for Business page are somewhat different from regular Facebook: this is a primary way to create a direct pipeline to your clients and their circles of influence with targeted messages. Remember: each posting you submit to your Facebook for Business page sends an outbound email to all the “fans” of your business, with links back to your Website, if you make it part of your posting.

Now, if you’re out and about, and your iPhone shows two inbound emails: one from a business you know and one from Facebook, which one will you click on first? My non-scientific research says it will be the Facebook email that gets the first click, because it’s an opt-in communication from a trusted source.

Speaking of trust: regular client touches foster a level of communication that usually results in that tidbit of information from your client that helps you serve them more efficiently now, and plants the seed for future business opportunity and longer-term trust of your organization and its service offerings down the road.

It’s funny how the technology for “connecting” with clients is actually taking us farther apart from human contact, but making us more efficient in reaching more people. Let OMG National show you the best way to stay connected with your clients.
